Mohawk at it’s finest!

I realize I’m behind on this blogging and I’m so sorry! Let’s see…what is worthy enough to be mentioned in my blog tonight. How about the amazing new H-wing at Mohawk that opened up this month? UH-MAZ-IIIIING. I’m glad there are new workplaces for group work and such that will be put to well use for the rest of my career here!

Incase you haven’t been to the H-wing, or at least past the long Starbucks line, then you should check it out. The basement isn’t anything all that special, I’m hoping they’ll do some decorating there because I have two classes down there this semester. The first floor is where the library moved, and the top floor is the most popular of them all! That’s where the colourful windows are located and 10 new iMacs (drool!). Also there are pillows located around the perimeter of the top floor, which doesn’t really make that much sense to me. Are they encouraging naptime? If so, I’m in but they should have made the cement they lined the pillows onto a big cozier.

The main focus of the top floor is definitely these new stations called “Sandboxes”. Basically it’s a desk with two big flat screens that you plug your laptop into and can project everything off of there onto the screens. This works well with large group work because it’s easier for everyone to see what’s going on from one tiny laptop screen. Even if you don’t use the screens, it’s a neat place to just have a team meeting.
